Are you ready to trade in your old SUV for a new one at Steve Austin’s Auto Group? It may be time to upgrade from your gas-powered vehicle to an electric SUV. Many automakers are going green by overhauling their lineups with electric models — and the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is the newest electric vehicle from the bowtie brand. Here’s a look at how the 2024 Equinox EV differs from and compares to the Equinox you know and love.
What makes the 2024 Equinox EV unique is evident from its name: It’s an electric vehicle! This Equinox replaces the gas-guzzling engine with an all-electric motor that makes 210 horsepower. It’s mounted to the front axle for peppy front-wheel drive.
Alternately, the available eAWD system uses dual motors, one on each axle. This increases horsepower by 80 and torque by over 100 lb-ft, providing enhanced low-rpm output for better acceleration on the hilly country roads of Logan County. With the right equipment, the Equinox EV can even tow up to 1,500 pounds!
The SUV is built upon the automaker’s Ultium Platform; its modular architecture is the foundation of all forthcoming electric vehicles from Chevrolet — which also includes the Silverado EV truck and Blazer EV.
Whichever powertrain configuration you choose, both versions use One-Pedal Driving to bring the SUV to a gradual stop when you release your foot from the accelerator. Plus, it replenishes some energy back in the battery pack for improved driving range.
Speaking of range, are you worried that Bellefontaine is too remote for driving an all-electric vehicle? Chevrolet wants you to rest assured that range anxiety won’t plague you behind the wheel of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. According to GM estimates, this SUV can travel up to 300 miles on a full charge with the efficient FWD configuration.[1]
Recharging overnight is a breeze, even if you’re unfamiliar with owning an electric car. Just plug the Equinox EV into a 120-volt outlet or a 240-volt setup (11.5-kW Level 2 charging). The battery pack should replenish overnight, around 8-9 hours per GM estimates.[2] You can even use DC fast-charging on weekend trips to Columbus, Dayton, or Toledo.
The 2024 Equinox EV has five trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS. Each version offers a collection of features to enhance your comfort, driving convenience, opulence, or entertainment.
Most shoppers in Bellefontaine will be interested in the entry-level 1LT or low-tier 2LT models. Why? Chevrolet priced the 2024 Equinox EV to be affordable for families who normally don’t have the budget for an EV.
With its starting price around $30,000, the 2024 Equinox EV is currently one of the most financially accessible electric SUVs of its kind on the market — nearly half the starting price of the illustrious Chevy Blazer EV.[3] That may surprise you given the SUV’s sleek exterior design with razor-thin LED headlamps, sporty wheel designs, and two-tone color options.
Apart from its electric powertrain and appearance, the 2024 Equinox EV is very comparable to the normal Equinox that uses gasoline. It comes with many standard safety features via the Chevy Safety Assist suite, as well as including Blind Zone Steering Assist and Reverse Automatic Braking.
The infotainment system uses the automaker’s current platform, which is housed in an 11-inch-diagonal touch screen. And, you can expect to easily pair your smartphone using wireless syncing capabilities. The dashboard driver information display is all-digital too, with the speedometer, gas level, and other data shown on a separate 11-inch screen.
Has the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV convinced you to join the gas-free revolution? Or do you need to speak with an expert in person to decide if an electric car is right for you? Either way, come to Steve Austin’s Auto Group in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to see the vehicles we have waiting for you!
